Pearl Tong Chang, 83, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 5 in Kailua-Kona. She was born in Shanghai, China. Private services held. Survived by daughters, Jade (Randall) Chang-Lockwood of Kailua- Kona and Hope (Tom Nguyen) Chang of California; four grandchildren. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary.

Clarisse Yumi Obasa, 43, of Kurtistown died Jan. 11 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she formerly worked at Sack N Save as a food preparation assistant. Services pending. Michael Souza, 95, of Hilo died Jan. 9 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired truck driver for the County of Hawaii and U.S. Army World War II veteran. Survived by sons, Dennis (Fran) Souza of Tacoma, Wash., and Leroy Souza of Reno, Nev.; daughters, Charlene McCoy of Reno, Arlene Takara of Pepeekeo, Donna (Julio) Pasamonte of Kailua-Kona and Darlene (Shelby) Ancheta of Keaau; a brother and a sister; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
